Privacy Policy

MoonMapped generates astrology readings from the birth date, time and place you provide. We treat that birth data as personal data, and this page explains what we do with it.
What we collect
- Birth details. The date, time and place of birth you enter, used to calculate your chart and generate your readings.
- Google sign-in (optional). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID and email address, nothing else (no name, photo or contacts). We store them with your birth details and purchases so they follow you to any device where you sign in.
- Questions you ask. If you use paid question credits, the text of your question is sent to generate an answer.
- Payment records. Card and other payment-method details are handled entirely by Razorpay: we never see or store them. We do store the payment record itself against your session: which product, the amount and currency, Razorpay's order/payment id, and its status (paid, failed, refunded). This is what lets us confirm a purchase, fulfil it if a page reload interrupted checkout, and handle a refund request.
- Generated readings (cached). The text of a reading you've unlocked is cached server-side against your session, so reopening it doesn't re-run the calculation or cost you a credit again.
- Anonymous session identifier. A random ID stored in your browser that links your purchases to that browser. There are no user accounts in this version of MoonMapped.
- Pseudonymous analytics. Basic usage events (e.g. which page or feature was used) so we can improve the product. These events deliberately exclude your birth date, time, place, coordinates and question text.
Where it’s stored
Your birth details are held in your own browser's local storage, and are sent to our server to calculate your chart and generate readings. If you don't sign in, the browser you used is, in effect, how your data is recognised. If you sign in with Google, your birth details are also stored on our server with your account, so another device can rebuild your chart.
If you signed in with Google, signing in on a new browser or device brings everything back. If you didn't, clearing your browser's data (or switching browser or device) removes the local copy of your birth details and that browser's link to your purchases. Your purchases are not lost: open the reading page on the new browser and use “Paid on another device, or nothing unlocked?” with the payment ID from your Razorpay receipt email and the email or phone you paid with.
Who we share it with
- Google Gemini: generates the written text of your readings. We send your chart facts (placements and dates) and, if you write one, your question or note. Your name, email and phone are never sent. We use Gemini's paid API tier, under which Google does not use what we send to improve its products.
- Razorpay: processes payments. We never see or store your card details.
We do not sell your data, and no one trains AI models on it.
How long we keep it
Birth details live in your browser's local storage until you clear it. Cached readings and question records live server-side until you delete them (below), and are deleted automatically 12 months after they were written. Payment records are the exception: because they are accounting and tax records, we keep them even after a deletion request: see “Right to deletion” below for exactly what that means.
Right to deletion
Clearing your browser's site data removes the local copy of your birth details immediately, on your device, with nothing for us to do. To remove what our server holds against your session (cached readings, the questions you've asked, and your entitlement grants), use the data deletion page. It also disconnects that browser from any purchases made with it, which is why it warns you before doing it.
Payment records are anonymised rather than deleted outright: the transaction stays on file (Razorpay order/payment id, amount, status) for accounting and tax purposes, but is no longer linked to your session. If you would rather have a person handle this, or want confirmation of what was removed, contact us (below) instead.
India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
- Purpose limitation. Birth details and questions are used only to calculate your chart and generate readings and answers for you. They are not used to build a profile of you for advertising, and are not sold.
- Consent. Using the free reading or making a purchase is your consent to the processing described on this page. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your data, as described above.
- Children’s data. The date of birth entered tells us the age. For a date under 18, a parent or guardian is asked to agree, by ticking a box, before the birth details are sent to us or a chart is calculated. We do not verify that agreement. The child’s birth details are then used only for the free chart and reading: we do not run analytics for them, and a child’s chart is not saved to a signed-in account. Paid readings are for adults only, and the server refuses them for a date of birth under 18. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete a child’s data at any time through the Account page or the contact address below.
- Grievance Officer. Rahul. Send a grievance about how your data was handled to the contact below. We acknowledge it within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days.
